The best tofu recipe ever

Tofu can be challenging. It sometimes scrambles and goes to mush or it just tastes really bland.

Tofu done like this is entirely different, a really good firm tofu with a crunchy seasoned coating.

It’s beautiful with our sweet chilli sauce.


  • 1 pack of very firm tofu (250-300g), I used one by The Tofoo Co
  • a few tablespoons of sesame seeds
  • a few heaped tablespoons of panko breadcrumbs
  • sea salt
  • coarse ground black pepper
  • 2 free range organic eggs, beaten (if you’re vegan just coat the tofu in coconut oil before breadcrumbing)
  • olive oil for frying

Beat the eggs in a shallow bowl.

Mix the breadcrumbs, seeds, salt and pepper in another shallow bowl.

Cut the tofu into bitesize chunks.

Coat each tofu piece in egg then roll it in the crumb coating.

Heat some olive oil in a frying pan and gently fry the tofu pieces for about a minute or so on every side. Use two forks to gently turn them so you don’t knock the coating off.

Serve with sweet chilli sauce.
