Many commercial nut butters have added palm oil, or E numbers, or have been homogenised to stop the oil rising to the top.
Eww to all those additives and processes!
Making your own PB could not be easier and is quite a lot cheaper than buying a designer nut butter. You can use almonds, cashews or other nuts if you prefer.
Place the peanuts and salt (if using) in a food processer and blend.
They will go through a few stages, the last one being a big ball! But hang on in there and after about three minutes you will get a lovely PB paste. To make a crunchy version, separately blend a teacup of nuts til they are chopped into small chunks, then add them to your blend.
Jar it up and eat it.
That’s all.
Peanuts are also a rich source of manganese which also helps with having fantastic bones and skin as well as helping to control blood sugar. And in these days of diabetes epidemics that’s a huge bonus.
Nuts for the win!
