When oranges are in season at the end and beginning of each year they are heavenly, and this really brings out their citrussy beauty. Caramelised in a bit of butter and honey and served with Greek yoghurt, creme fraiche and a sprinkle of walnuts (not shown because I decided to add them after I’d taken the pic and started eating it!) they are a healthy and happy start to any winter’s day

Heat the oil, butter and honey in a frying pan (even a squeeze of juice from the orange) then add the orange slices and cook for 2-3 mins, flipping halfway through.
Mean time mix the yoghurt and creme fraiche (add a drop of vanilla extract if you want) and spoon it into a dish in oval/quenelle shapes. Now add the orange slices and nuts, scatter some fresh mint on and drizzle on the hot sauce before it sets.
Oranges are a good source of vitamin C which is not only important for immune support but for wound healing, healthy skin and tissue repair. They also provide vitamin A, calcium and plenty of phytonutrients and fibre.
