So, what are healthy food and drink staples?
Bread – no more than flour, water, yeast, salt. To illustrate, these are the ingredients of a popular white sliced loaf: Flour, Water, Yeast, Salt, Vegetable Oil (Rapeseed, Palm), Soya Flour, Preservative: Calcium Propionate (added to inhibit mould growth), Emulsifiers: E481, E472e, Flour Treatment Agent. GAK!
Milk – whole, unhomogenised.
Butter – just good old fashioned butter made from cream.
Other food and drink staples include eggs, tea, coffee and anything else you eat or drink several times a week, week-in-week-out. Keep them real, keep them ethical too.
By all means save money by eating less (but better) meat or other things you don’t need as much of, but always keep to healthy staples if you value your life.
