Occupation?
I’m a respiratory physiotherapist in Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Which means I assess people with long-term lung conditions and advise them on managing their condition and healthy lifestyles in general, which includes running exercise classes for them. There’s not actually much physiotherapy involved but I find it rewarding and varied. I’m far happier than in my previous career of computer programming.
What county/country do you live in?
Lancashire, I defected from Yorkshire for love. Or something.
What made you choose Nuush?
Someone I know mentioned Nuush on Twitter so I stalked the website for a bit, tried out a couple of recipes, and eventually went for it.
How long have you been with Nuush and had you tried other diets?
Four and a bit years now. I tried Slimming World a long time ago, with short term success, but swore I’d never eat a Muller Light again! I’d gradually come to the realisation over the years that I needed to eat proper food (no low fat muck) but I didn’t know how to do that without gaining weight. I also toyed with the paleo thing but it never made much sense and I decided I liked carbs too much.
What inspires you?
The outdoors, mountains in particular.
What’s your desert island food?
Cheese. I like all kinds (except livarot, never eat livarot) but if forced to choose it would be a nice strong tangy cheddar.
What are the joys and benefits of Nuush?
Peanut butter, butter, cheese. I love eating real, whole food and discovering new recipes every week. The Facebook support group is great too. Not having to think what to have for tea, and know that whatever I’ve chosen will be delicious.
One piece of advice for anyone living with you?
Be quiet at night, or I won’t sleep, and if I don’t sleep I’m grumpy. (I just asked my husband and he says put anything breakable on a high shelf – I am quite clumsy!)
Most interesting thing you’ve learnt this week?
The word nylon comes from a combination of NY (for New York) and Lon (for London). Apparently.
What’s your food nemesis?
If you mean something I hate – liquorice. If you mean something I can’t resist – peanut butter.
Favourite Nuush meal?
Cool seedy porridge. It’s amazing!
Favourite form of activity?
Walking up mountains. Don’t do it enough.
What’s one of family’s speciality dishes?
One big thing you’ve learnt from Nuush?
You can live without alcohol.
Last thing you ate?
A spoonful of Greek yogurt whilst feeding some to the dogs.
What one piece of health advice would you give people?
Walk whenever you can. We’re designed for that, not for sitting.
Tell us something about yourself that people will find riveting?
I used to ride a big (well 650cc) motorbike. It’s hardly riveting but I don’t want the really interesting stuff publicising!
