Occupation
Head of IT Service for Insurance Division at Lloyds Bank (basically just a professional bossy boots).
What county/country do you live in?
The People’s Republic of West Yorkshire.
What made you choose Nuush?
It just sounded honest. My friend Gill was a member of the Nuush family and she isn’t easily swayed and was so positive about Sally and the crew. Plus, when I had my first chat with Sally she was just honest and didn’t try and sell me any quick fixes, it felt like the programme had integrity.
How long have you been with Nuush and had you tried other diets?
3 weeks, I’m still a Nuush foetus! Month 2 I’ll progress to Nuush toddler 👶🏼
I have tried every diet: Slimming World, Weight Watchers, Lighter Life, Atkins. I lost 5 stone at most, put that and more back on booooooooooooo!
What inspires you?
Tonnes of things inspire me…
- Kindness – there is nothing in life that kindness can’t salve and it should be part of everyones DNA.
- My family and friends – I adore my family and friends, they make the downs of life more bearable and the ups super joyous.
- Beautiful, great writing – I love reading and inhale books. And one day I would love to write a book.
- Strong leadership (a bit worky, apols) – I really admire this as a trait. My team affectionately call me The Leader.
- Resilience – life is tough and I admire that steeliness. I especially love strong fighter women; things go wrong, it’s about keeping going despite the obstacles.
- Silliness and giggles – because that’s what life is really about, deep belly laughs and fun!
What’s your desert island food?
My mother’s curry.
What are the joys and benefits of Nuush?
I’m really surprised by how much I’ve embraced it.
Joys: It’s proper food and it’s tasty, I’m still in shock!! I’m definitely having to learn how to eat ‘proper’ food again! The support on the Facebook group is quite frankly outstanding. I’d decided I was going to be a silent observer on the group, that lasted about 5 seconds!
Benefits: Whilst my ultimate goal is to be a supermodel gorgepot (give me time), benefits include improved energy, having a healthy relationship with food. Within a couple of weeks my skin looks and feels better, my eyes look brighter, and I feel more positive.
One piece of advice for anyone living with you?
Leave it as you find it and do as your told obvs! So two pieces of advice.
Most interesting thing you’ve learnt this week?
That apples float when submerged in water because they contain air pockets much like a human lung! Particularly topical as we head towards all that apple bobbing at Halloween.
What’s your food nemesis?
Aubergines and egg whites, yuck!
Favourite Nuush meal?
Meatballs hmmmm yummy meatballs 🌶 ❤️ 😍 😍 😍
Favourite form of activity?
Swimming and car karaoke dance off with my niece and nephew.
What’s one of family’s speciality dishes?
Chicken Pilau & Kofta curry mmmmmmmmmm hmmmmmmmmmm (greedy, so that’s two, we have a theme).
One big thing you’ve learnt from Nuush?
To ask for help. My health and weight were out of control so I needed professional help and support. fitnat gives me that in abundance. One of the best decisions I have made in recent times.
Last thing you ate?
Sourdough with honey – my favouritest breakfast 🍯 🍞 🍯 🍞 🍯 🍞
What one piece of health advice would you give people?
Prioritise your health, you’re no good to anyone unless you look after you. You’re not being selfish, health is the one thing money can’t buy.
Tell us something about yourself that people will find riveting?
Oh crikey, riveting I can’t promise, but a personal factoid. I want to write a book like a combination of cook book and modern Pakistani Muslim woman’s reflection on life and culture, importance of being awesome chef/domestic goddess but secretly being a slightly sarky bag who doesn’t care. It’s in draft and I need to make time for it.
