A cuppa with… Becca de Ville

Meet Becca, who loves yoga and could easily eat veggie pad Thai for the rest of her life.

Occupation?

IT Project Officer for a university.

What county/country do you live in?

Derbyshire.

What made you choose Nuush?

Common sense, no-nonsense approach with long lasting results. I also think Sally is the bee’s knees.

How long have you been with Nuush and had you tried other diets?

I’ve known Sally online since I did the London Marathon in 2009, she was on Twitter and had all sorts of info about nutrition and running that was common sense and I really liked the way she came across. When she started doing nutrition plans I signed up, although despite her phenomenal efforts my heart wasn’t in it but I loved the food and the convenience of having the plans done for me. I kept following her (online, not in a stalkery way!) and watching fitnat go from strength to strength, signing up to the plans after the birth of my second child.

Before that I’d been on every diet going, just before signing up to the plans I had cut out gluten, dairy and sugar – it was a poor existence compared to now!

What inspires you?

My family. My husband has always supported me and is the first person I turn to for advice, a giggle, support or just a very well made cup of tea. My children are the lights of my life, I want to be in tip-top health so I can enjoy them for as long as possible.

What’s your desert island food?

Mashed potato. I have eaten plates of it just by itself before now.

What are the joys and benefits of Nuush?

It’s so versatile and so easy to follow. My family and friends don’t know that we’re eating to a plan because all they see is a succession of lovely, home cooked meals. It’s also saved me money as I only buy things at the supermarket that are on the plan, and the people I’ve met through fitnat are amazing and inspirational.

One piece of advice for anyone living with you?

Don’t expect anything of me first thing in the morning or after 9pm, I’m neither a lark nor an owl!

Most interesting thing you’ve learnt this week?

That emotions are based on predictions that your brain is constantly making, predictions that are based on previous experience. Therefore it is possible to rewire your emotional reaction to make it a lot easier to face stress and fear and get stuff done!

What’s your food nemesis?

Buffets. I could stand at a buffet and graze all day, not even eating things that particularly taste nice but just eating them because they’re bite size.

Favourite Nuush meal?

The vegetarian pad Thai, oh I could eat that for every meal!

Favourite form of activity?

Yoga, I’ve been practising yoga for years and years and I’m lucky enough to have a friend who runs yoga courses for babies, children and grown ups so I’ve been able to share my love of yoga with my children.

What’s one of family’s speciality dishes?

Satay noodles with sweet chilli sauce, we’re big fans of noodles in this house!

One big thing you’ve learnt from Nuush?

That I don’t need to eat allofthethings to feel satisfied, everything in moderation is a great way to live!

Last thing you ate?

Flatbread pizza, it was a quick-but-good-for-you tea that my friend and I fed our children before rushing to the next activity.

What one piece of health advice would you give people?

Get outside at least half an hour a day, makes everything feel achievable.

Tell us something about yourself that people will find riveting?

I was once filmed for Trust Me I’m a Doctor. I had to wear a pedometer and take the stairs everywhere (my workplace is based around four tower blocks) and I got to meet Dr Michael Moseley. He wasn’t as friendly as he appears on camera!
